Devon Musical Notes (DMN) was originally set up by Malvern Cooke (Hon. Sec. South Devon Choir) to help those planning for choirs/ groups in order to avoid dates clashing in same areas, there are few enough concerts in this area and people would be disappointed if they had to choose between Torbay Symphony and SDC for instance, also, there was loss of people on seats for one or other. The media group, which consists of Devon Radio, Torbay radio shows, TIC's, Libraries and various publications came second and is an obvious development for the resource, there are 3 DMN issues a year, March, July and November circulated. I realise not everyone can plan dates especially if they are presenting many concerts for other groups but it is still worth while advertising as far ahead as possible as I know some choirs/ groups use the resource in planning and may be able to avoid clashing with your concert. The advertising in local community centres etc is really a bonus.
DMN has been inherited from Malverne Cooke and we think it a worthwhile endeavour for both reasons, planning and advertising
